After opening an office in LA, we planned an Open House to introduce Henderson to the California market. Our goal was to showcase our brand, personality, and culture, and to make a lasting first impression. That started with the design of a printed announcement and invitation. We created a custom folder mailer that included inserts with information about our new office director, our firm profile, an introduction to our services and expertise in sustainable design (which we knew was important to this region), and lastly an invitation to the Open House. With words like “He may even buy you a beer,” the mailer was written in a casual way that highlighted our brand personality.
We primarily focused on current clients who had an office in LA. Many of the invitees had worked with Henderson in some capacity but several had not been introduced until they received the mailer. We sent out roughly 200 mailers and were expecting a response rate of approximately 10-15%. We were blown away when we had almost 40% of those who were invited decide to attend our Open House.
The unique and thoughtful design demonstrated Henderson’s dedication to quality and piqued the interest of dozens of potential clients who attended. Almost a year later, several of those attendees have become valued partners of our LA office. And an added bonus: one attendee actually joined our firm after he attended. He was so intrigued by our culture that he wanted to be a part of it.
