Creative Brief
Buckle up, engineering pioneers! We’re firing up the DeLorean and hitting 88 mph to take you on a high-voltage journey through time at 1.21 gigawatts—where we’ll meet the fearless women who rewrote the blueprints of history. Destination? The moments that changed engineering forever!
As the flux capacitor kicks in, we find ourselves in 1860, where Martha Coston is lighting up the night sky with her revolutionary signaling flares—changing naval communication forever. A quick recalibration, and boom, it’s 1947—we step into a secret war room where Hedy Lamarr is sketching out the blueprint for frequency-hopping technology, paving the way for Wi-Fi and GPS. Great Scott! We barely process that before we’re on the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883, where Emily Roebling defies the odds, leading one of the greatest engineering projects in American history.
Women have shaped engineering for centuries, yet their stories often go untold. At K+W, we believe their contributions deserve the spotlight. Honoring the heroes of the past to inspire the pioneers of the future, the 2024 Women in Engineering Week Campaign turned back the clock to celebrate these trailblazers.
During Women in Engineering Week, we traveled through history—spotlighting eight extraordinary women who changed the game. A firmwide voting process fueled the engine, uncovering our top eight favorite engineers.
This campaign wasn’t just a celebration—it was a mission. A mission to honor those who paved the way and empower the next generation to break boundaries. Because where we’re going, we don’t need glass ceilings.
