Creative Brief
In May 2021, the JVA Marketing team created a Class of 2021 Staff Yearbook to present to staff during the retirement party of JVA Principal, Charlie Hager. This yearbook was created for the firm to serve as a snapshot in time of the JVA culture and memories JVA employees share. The yearbook included JVA history, leadership, ERGs and committees, staff headshots, superlatives, and cultural events. The intended audience was JVA staff, but also includes new hires and interviewing candidates.
A staff yearbook has never been done before at JVA. The publication’s goal was to boost staff morale and reconnect staff with company culture for the first in-person JVA gathering in a year. It was a physical take-home piece for Charlie and staff to remember JVA and the community it has built over the last 66 years.
The yearbook was a success, sharing stories of Charlie’s time at JVA, showing pictures of previous JVA events, and staff reminiscing on good times. After yearbooks were distributed, staff fell quiet with big smiles plastered on their faces. Custom orange Sharpies were distributed along with the books for staff to sign each other’s yearbooks.
The design incorporated JVA’s brand identity as inspiration to create a classic yearbook look. This yearbook serves as a reminder of where we came from, where we currently are, and where we are headed as a Colorado employee-owned legacy firm.
