Creative Brief
The City of Roseville’s Environmental Utilities Dept. serves 145,000 people; that’s a lot of water, sewage, and food waste! But they’re diving into the magical world of transforming it into the most enchanting fuel for their garbage trucks—they’re single-handedly combating climate change one not-so-stinky mile at a time.
But who knows about it? How do we get the story out there to educate the community—and beyond? To raise awareness and generate positive media coverage for the city’s climate change mitigation and sustainability efforts, Brown and Caldwell (BC) worked with the city to develop a video that explains the complex energy recovery process and its environmental and community benefits in an easy-to-understand, shareable format—it also demonstrates BC’s reputation for innovation and engineering excellence.
We went right to the source, interviewing city executives and engineers and BC engineers to succinctly explain the energy recovery process—which is pretty cool—and its benefits. We completed the video in only seven days, more than surpassed our target audience and news outlet reach goals, and came in 21% under budget by keeping it all in house! And now thousands of people locally and many more across the nation know about how the City of Roseville is fighting climate change and BC’s role in helping them do so.
