Creative Brief
A 100-year milestone is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. W.E. O’Neil approached its centennial not as a single event, but as a year-long, integrated campaign designed to celebrate its history while strengthening its future.
The strategy started with a clear principle: define the why before the what. Through leadership workshops and company-wide surveys, a focused through-line emerged — people, relationships, and values — and it became the foundation of everything that followed.
A cross-functional national committee led a structured process: set objectives, gather input, build messaging, execute. Before a single asset was created, the team built a centralized historical archive through 20+ interviews with current and retired employees, paired with extensive research and artifact collection. That archive became the campaign's single source of truth, and one of its most enduring legacies.
Execution was ambitious. A bold centennial brand identity and the theme "A Century of Building Dreams" anchored everything: a microsite, a 30-minute documentary and video series, a national PR push, social campaigns, internal programming, an array of merch, and coordinated events across all regions. Unique activations—such as a fully customized, Monopoly-inspired board game and interactive employee initiatives—reinforced engagement and pride.
The campaign reached employee-owners, clients, partners, and communities nationwide, creating a shared experience across a decentralized organization.
The numbers followed: engagement scores climbed, social metrics exceeded goals, and earned media reached national audiences. But the real win is what remains: a stronger culture, a sharper brand, and a content library built to support W.E. O'Neil's next hundred years.
