For more than half a century, Structure Tone (ST) has played a major role in shaping cities throughout North America and Europe. What began as a small, NYC construction business in the 1970s has grown into one of the country’s premiere construction firms. From winning our very first fit-out in Manhattan, to taking on iconic projects across the US, Canada, UK, and Ireland, the ST team has come a long way in the last 50 years.

To celebrate this milestone—and honor the leaders, partners, and clients who helped us get here—Structure Tone’s New York marketing team joined forces with STO Building Group’s corporate marketing team to tell the Structure Tone story in a comprehensive oral history series on the company podcast, Building Conversations.

We began the brainstorming at the end of 2020, dug into planning, interviews, and production in 2021, and published six episodes between August 2021 and January 2023. Each episode focuses on a specific era in ST’s history and explores how the progress made during that time continues to influence who we are as an organization. Here’s the outline:

Documentary-style, each episode features reflections from ST leaders, united by narration to tell the full story. Each new episode was shared with staff by a featured employee, further linking their history and stories to this milestone.
