Creative Brief
Prior to 2020, M.C. Dean hosted in-person interview career fairs and an onsite event to recruit college graduates and interns. The COVID-19 pandemic required the company to quickly transform its college recruiting efforts into a virtual platform. The demand for new hires was high–college recruiting is a critical part of the company’s growth with federal and hyperscaler customers, and the typical hiring goal of 40 specialized engineers each fall and spring had not been achieved to date.
The Marketing team worked with leaders from each strategic business unit to create an online experience using LinkedIn, leveraging a private group to protect proprietary information. The goal was to replicate as much of the company’s in-person interview experience to entice new graduates to join the company.
Videos and photos from events throughout the previous year were curated to represent all aspects of the company and its culture. In addition to using LinkedIn, the M.C. Dean marketing team facilitated an engaging webinar with the students and executive leadership using Zoom. This webinar provided the students an opportunity to hear directly from the CEO and other leaders, and to participate in an in-depth, digital question, and answer session.
The leadership webinar was followed by a series of smaller, collaborative sessions with each business unit using Microsoft Teams. Compared to previous years, the recruiting effort proved to be both more effective and cost efficient despite the quick shift to new digital platforms.
