The Rogers-O'Brien Marketing team worked in collaboration with the Director of Safety to outsource and create a new Safety Orientation Video that is shown on all job sites prior to working, and during new hire orientation. Prior to the creation of this new video, the video shown was from 2008. The old video was outdated and boring, and lost viewer's attentions quickly. Instead of the traditional instructional video, the team sought to create an innovative video that reinforced RO's safety culture, while hitting on the important topics. The new Safety Orientation Video was created to catch and hold the attention of everyone viewing it, regardless on their background or job description. This was done by not only casting an attractive host, but also by using real life examples, such as throwing a dummy off a building, and starting the video with an ambulance scene. The video also makes safety personal, by tying in the family aspect at the end.
The video was created in both an English and a Spanish version. This was due to the high number of Spanish speaking trade partners that are required to watch the video prior to working on RO job sites. The RO team wanted to be as inclusive as possible, and even dismissed the cheaper option to just add Spanish subtitles to the English video.
