Creative Brief
Developed through a collaborative 18-month process and launched in January 2019, our Strategic Plan 2023 builds on what has made us successful in the past, while challenging us to evolve, innovate, and become even better. Our goals for the plan included ensuring employees could connect it to what they do every day; making the plan’s Purpose, Values, and Vision statements clear and free of business-speak; and continuing to break down silos within Terracon.
The plan was rolled out to employees in phases to build engagement and connection around the key plan elements, starting with our Values of Caring, Courage, Curiosity, Excellence, Integrity, and Prosperity. Our Values define who we are and how we work with our clients, our communities, and each other. We next rolled out our Purpose, “Exploring Beyond the Surface,” and finally our Vision for what we aspire to become: “Together … We are best at people; we lead innovation; and we are dominant in our markets.”
Each phase of the plan rollout was supported by an integrated multimedia campaign including a dedicated, interactive web site; videos of Terracon employees sharing how they connect to the plan; print and electronic employee newsletter features; local office collateral; and peer-to-peer recognition materials to reinforce engagement and adoption.
It has been rewarding to see how quickly the Values have been embraced, with employee connecting our Values to all aspects of Terracon’s business and culture, evidenced in 90% awareness of the Strategic Plan 2023 elements reported in our 2019 Employee Engagement Survey.
