Texas-IBI Group, Inc. is an architectural firm specializing in education facilities; our core clients are school districts and community colleges across southeast Texas. Each fall, we hold our annual golf tournament to support the ongoing efforts of education foundations associated with our current (and potential) client districts. Throughout the year, the money raised is distributed among these districts.
There are golf tournaments every day but we wanted ours to be special since it was the 16th anniversary of the event. We moved the date to October 31st– Halloween – when we realized that we could create the theme around the holiday and provide a unique experience for our guests.
Our intent was to look at the event with fresh eyes. We wanted it to spotlight our corporate culture and leave a lasting impression. We wanted our clients and sponsors to have fun; and we wanted to create community and promote interaction among our attendees, our staff, and the districts we support…and that is exactly what we set out to do.
Outcomes included:
Internal Team-Building – 87% employee participation on the day of the tournament; 100% participation pre-event.
Client Feedback – Numerous requests to keep the Halloween theme; “…the games were hilarious and fun.” One notable example: Our Field Supervisor (Gene Simmons) had a doppelganger who played golf all day dressed as (of course) Gene Simmons of Kiss. He unanimously won the costume contest. And, we have pictures.
Fundraising Skyrocketed – Over 30 sponsorships, $57,000 raised and $6,000 in-kind sponsorships!
