Concord embarked on our second 3-year strategic plan and this time we wanted to get everyone on board with the direction the company would be taking. The past 3-year plan went off successfully; however the feedback we received from employee’s prior to kicking off the new plan was lack of communication. From this feedback we decided to engage every employee in our strategic planning and the best way to do this was communicate our goals and initiatives in depth, showing employees their role in a successful plan and implementing their ideas to make it stronger. From this discussion among managers, an investment in a two-day Company Strategic Planning Retreat was born.
The success of a company is having a strong culture/staff that understands the overall direction of the company which equates to success on every project and has everyone operating towards the same goals. You will read a lot of entries about external events that focus on bringing in new business, but we invested internally focusing on our employees, because without them, we don't have a business.
Our goal was employee retention and satisfaction. In order for an employee to be dedicated to your firm it takes more than a paycheck, it takes a connection to the overall goals, mission, and vision of the firm. The Retreat theme "Building The Past, Modernizing for the Future" represents our employees' and everything they have done to make the firm successful and carrying out the goals to continue to evolve in the industry.
