Creative Brief
Harkins aims to create an inclusive environment for all employees and trade partners. This campaign was created to highlight our incredible women in a male-dominated industry, demonstrate our commitment to inclusion, and educate others about careers in construction for females.
Over the last three years, we have employed over 50 women in all departments, including accounting, administration, business development, estimating, project management, field operations, HR, marketing, project controls, and legal/risk. In a male-dominated field, this is a great achievement, and we wanted to celebrate the strengths our women bring to the table.
Harkins developed and executed a multi-faceted campaign that used the following strategies: social media, blogging, e-mail marketing, and the creation of a new landing page specific to Women in Construction Week. Through positive feedback received as demonstrated by analytics, our campaign has proven to be extremely successful. Each day of the week, we featured one of our female employees and their exceptional accomplishments. In addition, we asked each featured female, what’s next for women in construction:
Through education and outreach, it is my goal to show the younger generation that there are job opportunities for women in construction. Women of all races and ages are succeeding in their careers and are changing the industry’s perspective at large. (Antonice Turpin, Project Engineer)
Harkins continues to support our women through the Women’s Roundtable Affinity Group, which unites the women of Harkins to share their unique strengths and challenges and provides a comfortable place to connect with other professionals.
