The newsletter's goal is to better connect employees throughout our 16 offices by providing relevant and engaging content that reflects the culture of the firm. A firm-wide survey was distributed that informed its development. We launched the first newsletter in August of 2015 and have produced two additional newsletters on a bi-monthly schedule.
One of the major items of feedback was a need for more leadership communication. Therefore, the team dedicates two sections to leadership communication every newsletter with a message from our CEO and a "featured leader" section. Another major need the newsletter addressed was the desire to see more projects in the different offices that were "on the boards," meaning, not yet under construction. These sections are the most viewed sections in the newsletter.
The content is rich and plentiful, but we needed a creative way to present the information that would meet the needs of our time-constrained and visually-oriented employees. We use an adobe program called MUSE, so each newsletter is a mini website and allows in-house graphics to program with relative ease. We then embed the newsletter in our intranet called JIVE. JIVE restricts the viewing width to 875px wide, so we employed a strategy of scrolling sideways for more information which enabled us to include a great deal of information in each category.[see example JIVE_Newsletter_Example.png]
Analytics from google and the individual surveys deployed in each newsletter have yielded important feedback that we analyze each session to made the newsletter more informative in its content.
