Proper funding for water infrastructure in the United States is significantly low. A recent study by ASCE and the Value of Water Campaign shows an $81 billion gap between water funds and water infrastructure needs. What’s worse, more than 2 million Americans don’t have basic access to safe drinking water and sanitation. In support of the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign in October 2020, Garney created a video to raise awareness and a call-to-action for increased funding for life’s most essential resource…water.
Garney is more than just a construction company—we serve our communities and deliver invaluable infrastructure solutions. We are a partner to our clients, helping them solve their daily and long-term challenges with public policy, funding, and implementation of water solutions. This video and our involvement in the “Imagine a Day Without Water” campaign are ways to demonstrate how water truly is our passion.
Our goal was to educate as many people as possible about how they can help ensure water is properly managed, maintained, and funded. Water infrastructure is largely invisible. It takes pipes, pumps, equipment, and people working 24/7 to deliver clean water to homes and businesses, and then remove and treat wastewater so it can safely be reused or returned to the environment.
After a two-week campaign, our video was widely shared—through mass e-blasts, social media, and media outreach efforts—resulting in 3,200+ views to date, appearance in 15 industry publications and e-newsletters, and numerous social media shares from key stakeholders.
