Founded by two construction pros who balk at bureaucracy, SC Builders runs lean, including marketing. The chief advice from an outside consultant—“you need a new website.” The current site was old-fashioned: not responsive, not impressive, definitely not reflective of our major tech clients. And not effective at conveying how awesome it is to build your career here.
With the intent to design the website as the hub of all digital communications, we focused on two main goals: improve recruitment of “Top 20%” commercial construction staff and boost repeat business.
We expanded our careers section from 1 to 5 pages. We showcase our staff through profiles, testimonials, and professional photography and video. To speak to clients, we designed our projects section as a curated, “wow” experience. Project pages feature testimonials, beautiful photography, and a contact person.
The results are gratifying. The new site does exactly what we intended—attract top 20% talent. Through conversations with potential recruits and new hires, we learn how valuable the website is in influencing their decision: “Everything I heard in interviews was consistent with the website and videos. It was impressive—other companies’ websites don't provide so much helpful, impactful, easy-to-browse information.”
Users feel they understand what it’s like to work here, or with us. And it puts forth our best strengths to engage and persuade them. It’s reflective of our Class A clientele and it highlights the people of SC Builders. The site has become the hub of all our marketing and our most important recruiting tool.
