At STO our people are our greatest asset, so we always want to ensure we are communicating to them in the most efficient way possible. As marketers, we invest a lot of time and effort into creating valuable internal content—unfortunately, our previous intranet’s functionality issues were hindering us from reaching our full audience.
After analyzing the metrics, we realized the visibility of our intranet content should have been much higher. To come up with a strategic solution, we sent out a survey asking our employees to provide feedback. Some of the top issues were speed, ability to find important content with ease and efficiency, the search bar functionality, and most importantly, many of our staff had trouble accessing the intranet using their mobile and tablet devices. We listened to our people and decided to migrate our WordPress intranet over to LiveTiles last year.
LiveTiles is a SharePoint-based platform integrated with Office 365. From faster, easier access to a more intuitive navigation, STO’s new intranet has it all. Its user-friendly interface is interactive, engaging, and targeted—meaning the information displayed has been curated specifically for our people and their local office. During the migration process, we worked with our IT department to eliminate the need to connect through a virtual private network (VPN), so mobile and tablet access is much easier and quicker. With plenty of new-and-improved functions, the new intranet is our organization’s one stop shop for company news, interoffice communication, documents, and employee directory.
