Creative Brief
WHY: The crisis management plan for DAVIS construction designates the crisis management team (CMT) contacts, key responsibilities, emergency assignments and general procedures to follow during and following a crisis. While documenting this information in written form was the first step in implementing a plan, in the actual event of a crisis – the information must be instantaneously available, and updated, for employees.
WHO: The mobile app is automatically downloaded to 582 company-issued mobile devices including office and field staff (across 326 people).
WHAT: This project involved the digitization of DAVIS’ crisis management plan including jobsite and safety protocol based on incident type, as well as internal and external contact information (and the ability to initiate a call directly within the app).
HOW: The content for the app was pulled directly from the written plan published earlier in the year. The in-house IT team at DAVIS used PowerApps (a function already included in our Office 365 subscription) to develop a custom app that could be pushed to all company-issued mobile devices. Functionality includes an easy to navigate app with two main functions: protocol and contacts.
The protocol portion uses icons to identify 12 unique crisis types identified by text and an icon including: fatality or injury; fire; bomb threat; natural disaster; structural failure/damage; collapse/entrapment; active shooter/violence; flood; crane failure; public disruption; chemical spill; and cyber attack. Once a user clicks into a crisis type step-by-step protocol appears in the following order: secure life; secure site; secure community; and secure DAVIS.
